1 month old

Miss Charlotte is one month old.  Hard to believe, but it snuck up on us.  Each day she is more alert and more aware of Jackson.  I am proud of her for surviving life in our little place with "Mr. I have too much energy for my own good sometimes" running and jumping everywhere.  Something tells me she is going to be one tough girl at an early age.  We have been going on walks and made a few trips to church and the store, but for the most part we are at home. In a few weeks I will feel better about taking her out more. It is going to be a whole new learning experience rolling with two kids now.  I foresee many adventures in our future.

Oh Jackson...

Jackson has been taking in the warm weather as much as possible before it becomes insanely hot! He definitely has no need for naps, water, or any other time wasters these days, but lucky for him I insist on those things as well as some serious sunscreen! The sun is not friendly to that pretty skin.  We got him some new sunglasses yesterday, prompted by him holding his eyes and saying "oww" every time we walk into the sunshine. So between those, his bathing suit, and new crocs (yes he is the proud owner of his first pair), he is ready for anything the summer brings.

We went to Austin for two days last week and Jackson played with his cousins all afternoon. This car was Jackson's favorite.
Cannot go anywhere without the soccer ball...that is what mom likes to see!
Camping out with Granny's puppies.
I guess he wanted to take his nap in there with them.
Jack Attack!!
We were wondering what the clicking noise was coming from our room. He found the heels!
The only age at which heels are easy to walk in and comfortable. Charlotte is going to have all kinds of fun dressing up with him someday.
Our first swim of the season.
No fear, only splashing.
Brandon is an excellent swim instructor.
Charlotte has been napping while most of this madness is going on. Lucky her!

Happy Easter!

Happy Easter! We had a quiet weekend, filled with Easter egg hunts and relaxing together. Jackson wasn't sure about Easter eggs before now, but at this point he is loving them! He ate his treats and now opens the eggs over and over hoping they have magically been refilled. Charlotte made her first visit to church on Sunday which went well.  She slept most of the time, which means I can hopefully not have to miss too many more Sundays.  Tomorrow the kids and I are going to my mom's to give Brandon a couple days to finish a major paper, so we will see how our first little trip together goes!

Week 2

Well, 2 weeks in and Charlotte is already fitting right in around here.  Jackson is giving her a little more space at this point which is good, but the kisses are still flowin' and her cries are high on his radar. He especially loves her feet, i.e. "tootsies" which is not surprising because as we saw yesterday, "a kid in a candy store" is Jackson in a shoe store! He was bringing me everything from mini Chuck Taylors (Gracie will be so proud) to camo crocs.  Hopefully Charlotte will not inherit that obsession or we are going to be very poor for the next 20 years!

Charlotte had her 2 week check up this morning and is weighing in at 8lbs 13oz...no problem eating I would say. She is 75th percentile for weight and height now, so our little lady may get some of her mama's height after all.  Unlike her cousin, Camryn, she did not sleep through her Hep. B shot and heel prick.  As a matter of fact she let me know exactly how she felt about all that, but like her brother she calmed down pretty quick and is now sleeping soundly. No more of that until the end of May!

Brandon had class this weekend and Charlotte napped like a champ, so Jackson and I played with every toy he owns. It was actually pretty fun and good for him to be reminded that he still has a mommy.

Let's see what else...
Brandon has two more weekends of class before the semester ends and is cranking out papers and projects as well as doing the lion's share of "Jackson care" ...best husband ever!
Jackson is talking up a storm and attempting to jump now because apparently running alone does not use up enough energy. Oh, and he is saying "no" a lot which apparently means "yes" for now. We need to sort that out because it confuses me to no end!
Charlotte is getting more alert by the day. She is sleeping pretty well at night and I am hoping for longer stretches soon. All in all we are all doing well and not feeling cabin fever yet, so no complaints!

Suddenly Jackson's little feet look huge!
I wonder if I will be taller than you someday?

Spring Time

The weather is beautiful in San Antonio now, and we have been walking a little bit this week to get everyone out of the house to enjoy some fresh air. Here are some pictures of Jackson (compliments of Erin) from the day Charlotte was born, enjoying the baby animals at my mom's house...
