Valentine's Day

Our Valentine's Day was low key. Brandon had class all day, so I made him dinner that night...chicken parmesan with dark chocolate mousse for dessert!  And I cannot handle Valentine's Day without chocolate covered strawberries, so I made some of those as well. Turned out to be the best baby sitter in the world because Jackson loves them as much as I do! He had his italian food and then thoroughly enjoyed covering himself in chocolate for about 20 minutes. I guess he gets to benefit from my love of cooking and our general love of chocolate.

Chocolate Smiles...Happy Valentine's Day!
Stuffing the strawberry in his mouth
How good is this dessert? Are you kidding me?
Trying to climb up on the table earlier in the day...he thinks if he smiles enough I will let him continue his ascent.
Unfortunately I came down with a stomach bug Sunday morning which Brandon then picked up Sunday night. Jackson had a little bit of it too on Monday and Tuesday. Talk about the worst thing ever...35 weeks prego, sick, dehydrated, and having your husband and child sick too. Not fun, but we are all recovering this week and Brandon still made his trip to Mexico for school, so I am thankful for that. Jackson and I spent a couple of days in Austin with my mom recovering and now we are home again. It is pretty quiet around here without Brandon, but we are mostly resting and recuperating anyway. Jackson does go looking for Brandon a couple times a day, so my guess is he will be one happy little boy when we pick him up from the airport tomorrow!

San Antonio Stock Show

On Thursday we went to the stock show with Karen and her grandson Dillon. The boys had a lot of fun seeing all the animals from the huge pigs to the horses and goats. We went through the petting zoo and road the pony. Jackson was calling everything "puppy!" He has started saying a few other words like "ball, "hi," "bye," and attempts at "baby."  I think he is just listening to everything we say and waiting until he has it down pretty well before he tries to say it himself. By the time we headed home yesterday, Jackson was fast asleep and proceeded to take a nice 3 hour nap...always a plus for me, so I can get things put together at the house.
Brandon has class again this weekend, so he has been very busy this week, and I am helping my sister finish her packing because they move early next week.  Brandon will be in Mexico for one of his business school, international trips part of next week as well, so February is going to be over before we know it.

Jackson hopped right on the pony and started clicking to make it go.
We can thank his aunt Net and uncle Jim for giving him his rocking horse early on because now he rides in a saddle like a natural!
Leaning back like a cowboy.
Wondering when this pony is going to get moving.
First experience in a moonwalk. He had it all to himself for a few minutes which made his day.
Llamas are always a bit unpredictable, but Jackson eventually warmed up to this one.
Checking out the miniature donkey.
Hanging out with mom on the couch earlier this week when we were both fighting a cold. We have been hanging out a lot actually, cherishing the time before our little world changes permanently!

Midland visit

We made the trip to Midland last weekend to meet Camryn Faye and visit family. This will be my last trip before our little girl arrives, and we sure enjoyed it. Camryn is tiny and precious, and Brandon is convinced that Jackson was never that small! I guess we are both in for a rude awakening in March because compared to Jackson, a newborn is the tiniest thing you have ever seen.  One prime example was me changing Jackson who was squirming all over the place and trying to escape naked to run around the room while Camryn was sleeping quietly.  She is such a sweet little girl and sleeps so well for Brittany which will let both of them rest up and recuperate.
I really enjoyed holding a newborn again and the cousins seemed to be bonding already. Jackson showered Camryn with lots of kisses even though I could not seem to capture them on camera.  And when I held her on my lap, my little girl would kick her and Camryn would jump and kinda kick back...already playing with each other! Something tells me there will be lots of fun times ahead with Jackson and the little ladies.
Bubba and Brittany are doing really well with their new baby, and she is very content to say the least. Brittany always has her dressed in something cute which I am sure will only continue in the future. I better take lessons on that since I am used to a little boy who is perfectly happy going shirtless and looks a bit disheveled on a regular basis.  Something tells me we will switch gears without too much trouble though.
We headed home on Sunday and have been resting and getting back in the swing of things here. Brandon has class this weekend and next weekend, so he has been busy working on papers, etc. Jackson is starting to get a bit clingy to me this week, so maybe he senses that life is about to change.  I am trying to spend a lot of time with him to ease his mind. He was sweet to Camryn and pretty much did his own thing while we were in Midland, but I am thinking it might be a little harder for him when the baby doesn't disappear after a few days! I hope he will adapt pretty quick though...we will see.
