Gaining Confidence

No big news to report, except that Jackson is getting around better and discovering our apartment at whole new levels. Now anything within 2 feet of the ground is fair game. He is pulling himself up everywhere and standing alone. Last week we went to Gruene to meet some people I work with, so Jackson got his first experience of their live music scene and the Gristmill. Unfortunately I forgot the camera, but we had a great time. The weekend was relaxing, and this week has been busy. Jackson is napping for several hours and in general has a regular schedule, so that makes things a little easier for me. The weather cooled off some, and it is beautiful again. We have been getting out as much as possible.

Jackson gets himself trapped under the chair a lot. I call it "jail."

He got up here all by himself. Then of course he gives me one of those side smiles, wondering if I noticed what he did! More and more like Brandon every day.

Holding on for dear life!

Weekend in Driftwood

We spent the weekend at my mom's house and it was quite exciting for Jackson considering all the things for him to see. Her goat just had babies, so between them, the chickens, and her dog Hallie, Jackson was thoroughly entertained. My three brothers were out there as well, so we had a good time hanging out. Stephen put Jackson on his shoulders and gave him a tour of the property, and they spent a lot of time on the trampoline as well. That is going to be a favorite in the years to come I am sure. We tried the pool, but it was pretty cold. Jackson wanted to play in the water, but he kept touching it and then pulling back, so we just let him sit in it. Maybe he can get all the way in this summer. We did a little work on the property, but mostly we just relaxed. We are trying to get back into the swing of things this week.

Jackson meets the goat. We had to protect Hallie from him...he wanted to jump on her every time she was around. She licks his feet and is very gentle with him which is nice.

Playing on the trampoline.

Strawberries

Jackson and I met my mom near Fredericksburg this morning to pick strawberries! It is the height of their season so they are cheap, and we picked over 35 pounds of them! I think between her house and ours, we will be stocked for a while. Jackson was in Heaven between the berries, plants, dirt, and simply being outside of course. He was also a total mess by the time we were done, but it was worth it. Now I have about 13 pounds of strawberries washed and drying in our kitchen that I have to keep Jackson from discovering which will be interesting.

Daddy's boy

Jackson and Brandon have been doing some serious bonding lately. I don't know if Jackson will follow in his footsteps and attend Kings Point, but he sure enjoys the uniform.

And he is starting early in the kitchen, apron and all!
The weather has been incredible in SA lately. We were able to get out a lot this weekend and enjoy the sunshine. Justin Dunton came into town on Friday night and spent Saturday with us. We had a great time catching up and were able to eat several meals outside at the patio table near our place. Jackson of course loved that considering any excuse to be outside is right up his alley.

Caught in the act!

I surrounded Jackson with his toys this morning and went to wash my hands and put the groceries away. When I came back I found him like this...

Looks like Baby Proofing is on the weekend agenda. We are going to have to step it up a notch. He normally just finds me when he is bored with his toys, but now he has obviously found more "toys" that interest him! That is some hardcore reading material for 8 months.

Jackson's First Wedding

Jackson attended his aunt Brittany's wedding with us this past weekend, and we all had a great time. It flew by, but we did get to visit with family and enjoy our time in Midland. We drove in Thursday evening with my mom and jumped right into wedding festivities on Friday. Everything turned out well and Brittany was a beautiful bride! Now they are officially Mr. and Mrs. Bubba Dobson...hard to believe the wedding has already come and gone. Here are some pictures from the weekend...

Wedding Week!

We are gearing up for Midland and Brittany and Bubba's Wedding Weekend! Jackson has some new kicks to go with his dress clothes, so he will be styling as usual. His latest discovery is his tongue which he sticks out at us constantly now.

Brandon and I are subtly competing to see whether he will say "mama" or "daddy" first. I am trying to train him during the day, but I caught Brandon at Target getting him to repeat "Da Da" so it looks like I have some catching up to do. We leave tomorrow for Midland, and hopefully the drive will go well. At least this time Jackson will have someone to entertain him if he is awake. Cannot believe it is April already!
